Its still a cost option, but with current pound to dollar ratio, I think Bibble Pro cost me 65UKP when I bought it a few months back. I would also recommend bibble, its very good for workflow as you can tag and batch images so its not converting them while you are editing, or you can let it run in the background depending on how you want to work that day.

I find with my 5D there are no real problems, but you do need to adjust the controls to get what you expected, however having played with lightroom and aperature on my mac it seems that these applications just have different presents to start with, I don't think its a fault in UFRaw, it just starts with flat base settings.
